Bosch Dishwasher Inlet Valve and Filter Replacement in Dubai: Which Filter Is Which, When It Will Not Fill, and Cost
Search for "Bosch dishwasher filter" and you will meet three different parts under one word. The filter set in the bottom of the tub catches food and is yours to clean. A small filter where the water hose meets the machine screens the incoming water, and Bosch UAE tells you to rinse it. And a blocked tub filter can stop the machine draining, which, on the Bosch UK and Singapore pages, is why it then will not refill. Cleaning the wrong one fixes nothing.
The inlet valve is a fourth part, and it is not a filter. It sits inside the machine, opens to let water in, and is the part a technician replaces. Bosch's pages stop at checks the owner can make, and then send you to a service expert. This page sets out those checks, shows where the Bosch pages differ, covers the codes that point at the fill, and explains what the repair involves and costs in Dubai.
We repair Bosch appliances. We are an independent company and not an authorised Bosch agent. If your dishwasher is inside Bosch's warranty, call Bosch first. For other faults and prices see our Bosch dishwasher repair page.
At a glance
- Bosch UAE's four causes when a dishwasher takes no water: the supply valve is off, a hose is kinked or blocked, the water pressure is low, or the filter at the hose connection is clogged.
- The pressure test (Bosch UAE, UK, Singapore): with the tap fully open and the hose off, about 10 litres a minute should flow into a bucket. If it does not, call a plumber or fitter.
- The inlet filter (Bosch UAE): turn off the tap, remove the hose, rinse the filter under running water, use a small brush, reconnect and check for leaks.
- Bosch UK and Singapore also say that a blocked tub filter can stop the machine draining, which prevents it refilling.
- Codes on Bosch US's list: E14 (flow meter or water fill problem), E16 and E17 (water fill problem), E18 (water level too low or water not pumped correctly). Bosch says to contact support.
- The valve is inside the machine. Bosch Singapore says "we advise against attempting repairs yourself" if the problem continues.
- A repair in Dubai: typically AED 170 to 320 before 5% VAT for an inlet valve or flow meter, with a 90-day warranty on our repairs.
Which filter is which
Three different filters or blockages get called "the filter". Bosch's pages treat them separately, and so should you.
| What people call it | Where it is | Who deals with it | What Bosch's pages say |
|---|---|---|---|
| The tub filter set | In the bottom of the dishwasher. Bosch US says it is at the bottom of the machine and to check the owner's manual for removal | You | Clean it regularly. Our filter guide compares Bosch's intervals and steps |
| The inlet filter | At the water connection of the supply or AquaStop hose, where it meets the machine | You, with the tap off | Bosch UAE: remove the hose, rinse the filter under running water, brush it, reconnect, check for leaks |
| A blocked tub filter that stops the cycle | The same tub filter | You | Bosch UK and Singapore: it stops the machine draining the previous cycle, which prevents refilling |
| The inlet valve | Inside the machine | A technician | Not described by any Bosch page we read. Bosch sends you to a service expert |
What the table means for your search
"Bosch dishwasher filter location" usually means the tub filter, and our filter guide answers it. "Bosch dishwasher inlet filter" means the screen at the hose, and the Bosch UAE page describes it. "Filter replacement" has no Bosch page we found: Bosch's pages describe cleaning, not replacing. If a filter is damaged or missing, it is ordered against your E-Nr.
The fourth item
An inlet valve is not a filter, but it is the part a faulty fill usually ends at when the supply is good and the screens are clean. Our dishwasher page lists it with the flow meter at AED 170 to 320. That is why this page covers both.
What Bosch's pages say when a dishwasher takes no water
We read the "without water" and "not filling" pages on three Bosch sites: the UAE, the UK and Singapore. The UAE has two pages, "dishwasher without water" and "dishwasher running without water", with the same four causes.
| Cause | Bosch UAE | Bosch UK | Bosch Singapore |
|---|---|---|---|
| Supply valve off | "Check if the dishwasher water supply valve is switched on". Easy to forget after a holiday | The same | The same |
| Kinked or blocked hose | Untwist visible kinks in the supply, cold water fill and waste hoses | Untwist kinks. Test the waste hose in a bucket | Straighten kinks in the fill hose. Test the waste hose in a bucket |
| Low pressure | About 10 litres a minute. If too low, a plumber or fitter | The same | The same |
| Filter | The inlet filter at the hose connection: rinse and brush | The tub filter. A blocked one stops draining, which prevents refilling | Food debris in the filter stops the machine draining, which prevents refilling |
| If it continues | A Bosch service expert. BSH 048030400 | An engineer, in or out of warranty | "We advise against attempting repairs yourself". Book a Bosch engineer |
The difference that matters
Bosch UAE names the filter at the hose connection. Bosch UK and Singapore name the tub filter and explain it through draining. The sources do not contradict each other. They list different filters under the same heading, which is why owners who clean one and not the other get nowhere.
What none of them says
- Which model has an inlet filter at the hose and which has it elsewhere.
- How often to clean the inlet filter.
- What a failed inlet valve looks like.
- A price.
We cover what we can below, and mark which points are ours.
The 10 litres a minute test
All three Bosch sites give the same test, and it is worth doing before you blame the machine.
- Close the tap.
- Remove the hose from the tap end.
- Place a bucket below the tap.
- Open the tap fully and watch the flow. Bosch UAE says approximately 10 litres of water per minute should flow out of the tap.
- If the flow is too low, Bosch UAE says to contact a plumber or fitter to check the water installation. Bosch UK and Singapore say to contact your fitter.
Reading the result
About 10 litres in a minute is a good supply for the dishwasher. A weak flow means the problem is upstream of the machine, and no repair to the dishwasher will fix it. That is how our dishwasher page puts it, and Bosch's pages say the same by sending you to a plumber.
A careful way to do it
Keep the bucket under the end of the hose, open the tap slowly, and have a cloth to hand for drips. Do the test with the machine unplugged. We do not know your building's pressure, and Bosch's pages give no figure beyond the 10 litres.
If the supply passes
A good flow means the tap, the hose run and the supply are fine. The checks that remain are the inlet filter at the hose connection, the kinks, and the machine itself.
The inlet filter at the hose connection
Bosch UAE's steps for the filter are short. The page says to clean the inlet filter in the supply or AquaStop hose's water connection.
The steps, as Bosch UAE gives them
- Turn off the tap.
- Remove the hose.
- Rinse the filter under running water, and use a small brush to clean it.
- Reconnect the hose and check for leaks.
What the page does not say
- Where the filter sits on your hose.
- Whether it can be removed on a hose with an AquaStop block.
- Whether it can be replaced, or only cleaned.
Our cautions, which are ours
- Switch the machine off and close the tap before you touch the hose.
- Do not force a connection that will not undo. A stuck connector is a job for a technician.
- Check for leaks after you reconnect. Bosch UAE says so, and a drip at the connection is easy to miss.
- Do not use a tool on the filter that could tear it. The brush Bosch names is a small one.
If the hose has a plastic block near the tap, read the next section before you go further.
The hose with the safety valve
Our dishwasher page says: the hose on many Bosch models carries a safety valve in a plastic block near the tap. Do not cut the hose, soak the block in water or open it. If the valve has stuck, replace the whole hose.
What this means
It is our caution and not a Bosch page's. The block holds a valve that is meant to stop water if something fails, and we do not want it tampered with. Bosch UAE's page says the filter sits in the "supply or AquaStop hose's water connection", so the filter step may involve a hose of this kind, but the page does not say how to handle the block.
What to do
- Disconnect and reconnect the hose at the tap end only, and rinse the filter as Bosch says.
- Do not open or soak the block.
- If the hose will not fill the machine and the supply is good, tell us, and we test the hose and the valve.
A stuck valve
If a hose valve has stuck, the repair is replacing the hose. We name it on the quote, and the quote lists it separately from the machine's own inlet valve.
Hoses, kinks and the waste hose test
Bosch UK and Singapore add a test that Bosch UAE leaves out: the waste hose.
The test
- Remove the waste hose from the siphon connection.
- Put the end in a bucket.
- Select the drain programme.
- Watch the bucket. Bosch UK says if there is a blockage, water will not fill the bucket, or will struggle to. If the bucket fills slowly or not at all, Bosch says to clean the waste hose and siphon.
Why a waste problem stops filling
Bosch UK and Singapore say a machine that cannot drain the previous cycle will not refill. We do not know the machine's logic and will not describe it. What the pages support is the order: check the drain side when the fill side looks fine.
The supply-side kinks
Bosch UAE says to pull the dishwasher out slightly and untwist any visible kinks in the supply, cold water fill and waste hoses. Bosch UK says to untwist visible kinks. Our dishwasher page says kinked or squashed behind the machine is the usual place. Look behind the machine, with it unplugged, and do not strain the hose.
If the drain side is the problem
Our E24 guide and E25 guide cover the drain codes, and our drain pump guide covers the pump.
Codes that point at the fill
Bosch US's list has several codes for a dishwasher that cannot take in water, or cannot measure what comes in.
| Code | What Bosch US says | What Bosch US says to do |
|---|---|---|
| E14 | Flow meter failure or water fill problem | Contact Bosch Customer Support |
| E16 and E17 | Water fill problem | Check the inlet hose for kinks or damage, then contact support |
| E18 | Water level too low or water not pumped correctly | Check the inlet hose, confirm the water supply is on (10 l/min), contact support |
| E3000 | Flow meter failure or water fill problem | Contact support |
| E3300 and E3400 | Water fill problem | Check the inlet hose, then contact support |
| E3200 | Water level too low or water not pumped correctly | As for E18 |
Three points from the table
First, none of these codes offers a reset on Bosch US's list. The instruction is a hose check and then support, or support straight away for E14 and E3000.
Second, the four-digit codes are the same descriptions as the two-character ones, so a dishwasher that shows E3000 is in the same position as one that shows E14. Our dishwasher page groups them as inflow faults.
Third, E14 and E3000 name the flow meter. Our dishwasher page says that for these Bosch asks for support because the failed part "sits inside the machine". The flow meter and the inlet valve are separate parts, and we price them together.
The tap symbol
Our dishwasher page lists a tap symbol among the fill signs, grouped with E14 to E18. The Bosch pages we read do not explain it, so we add nothing to that.
Related codes
- E15, water in the base, has its own guide. A leak is a different fault from a fill fault.
- E22, E24 and E25 are drain and filter codes: see the E22 guide, the E24 guide and the E25 guide.
What the inlet valve is, and why it is not an owner job
An inlet valve opens to let water into the machine. Bosch's pages we read do not describe it, so this is our plain account.
What we can say
- It is inside the machine, behind the panels.
- Our dishwasher page lists it with the inlet screen and the flow meter as the parts a "not filling" fault ends at, and gives 45 to 90 minutes and AED 170 to 320.
- Bosch UAE, UK and Singapore all send you to a service expert after the owner checks.
What Bosch says about DIY
Bosch Singapore says: "we advise against attempting repairs yourself." Bosch UK says to book an engineer if you are not confident. Neither page gives a valve procedure.
What we do not say
We do not say how a valve fails, how long it lasts or how often it is the cause. Bosch's pages do not tell us, and we do not quote a percentage from a repair site.
What the technician does
The technician confirms the supply, the hoses and the filters are fine, then tests the fill with the machine running. If the valve or the flow meter is at fault, we quote it by name, and the part number appears on your invoice.
Safe checks, in order
These steps are Bosch UAE's, UK's and Singapore's, with our additions marked.
- Look at the display and note any code. Use the table above.
- Check the tap is open. Bosch's pages say it is easy to forget after a holiday.
- Check the supply valve is fully open, not just partly turned. Our reading of Bosch's "switched on" wording.
- Check the hoses for kinks, behind the machine, with it unplugged. Bosch UAE and UK.
- Do the 10 litres a minute test. Bosch UAE, UK and Singapore.
- Clean the inlet filter at the hose connection. Bosch UAE. Tap off first.
- Clean the tub filter, and check the drain. Bosch UK and Singapore. Our filter guide has the steps.
- Run the waste hose test if the machine seems not to drain. Bosch UK and Singapore.
- One reset, if you wish. Our dishwasher page gives Bosch's reset for most electronic faults as cutting power at the breaker for 30 seconds. Bosch US's entries for E14 to E18 do not offer it, so treat it as optional and try it once at most. This is ours.
- Stop and book if the machine still takes no water. Bosch UAE says a service expert, and Bosch Singapore advises against DIY repair.
The one thing to avoid
Do not keep restarting a machine that is not filling. Our dishwasher page says not to, and a pump running dry is no help to anyone.
What to leave alone
- The panels. The valve is behind them.
- The wiring. It carries mains.
- The AquaStop block. Do not open it or soak it.
- A hose connection that will not undo.
- A valve or flow meter bought from the code alone. Bosch's pages name no part for E14 to E18, so a part ordered from a code is a guess.
If you see water around the tap or the connection, close the tap, switch off at the wall and book.
Matching the part
An inlet valve, a flow meter and a hose assembly are matched to the machine.
The E-Nr
The E-Nr is on the rating plate, a sticker usually on the edge of the door or the inner side of the tub. Our dishwasher page explains that two machines in the same series can use different pumps, heaters and control modules, so a part is matched to the E-Nr and not to the series name.
Valve, meter or hose
The quote should say which part failed. A valve that will not open, a flow meter that cannot measure and a hose whose safety valve has stuck are different parts and different prices.
Stock
Our dishwasher page says we carry inlet valves for popular Bosch models, and that model-specific parts are ordered once the fault is confirmed. For any model we do not carry, we tell you the lead time before you approve.
What we do not claim
We do not claim a valve is original Bosch because of a number. The part number appears on your invoice.
The visit and the cost
The AED 99 inspection includes the visit, the diagnosis and a written quote. If you approve the repair, the AED 99 comes off the repair price. If you decline, it is all you pay.
Typical costs, excluding 5% VAT
| Fault | What is done | Time on site | Price (AED) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Not filling | Clean the screen, replace the valve or meter | 45 to 90 min | 170 – 320 |
What moves the quote
Three things. The part: a valve costs differently from a flow meter or a hose. Access: an integrated dishwasher behind a cabinet panel takes longer to pull out and refit. And stock: if the part is not on the van, the price is the same but you wait for a second visit.
A worked example
A technician confirms a failed inlet valve on a freestanding machine. The all-in price is AED 240, with the AED 99 inspection included. VAT adds AED 12, so you pay AED 252. If you decline the quote, you pay AED 99 plus AED 4.95 VAT, a total of AED 103.95.
The warranty
Every repair carries a 90-day warranty on the parts fitted and the labour for the repaired fault. If the same fault returns inside 90 days, we come back at no charge. The part number is listed on your invoice.
Telling the symptoms apart
The same dishwasher can fail to fill in several ways, and each one points at a different place. This table is ours. It sorts what you see into where Bosch's pages and our own repair experience say to look first.
| What you see | Where to look first | Bosch source |
|---|---|---|
| No water enters, the cycle pauses at the start, or a fill code shows | Tap, hose kinks, the 10 litres a minute test | UAE, UK, Singapore |
| Fills, but the machine will not run the next cycle after a blocked drain | Tub filter, waste hose, siphon | UK, Singapore |
| Water arrives slowly | Pressure test, then the inlet filter at the hose | UAE |
| Code E14 or E3000 with a good supply | Flow meter or valve, inside the machine | US list: contact support |
| Water on the floor near the tap end | Tap, hose connection, then stop and book | UAE says check for leaks after reconnecting |
No water at all
Start outside the machine. The tap, the hose and the supply cost nothing to check. Bosch UAE leads with the supply valve being off, and notes it is easy to forget after a holiday. If you were away and came back to a dishwasher that will not fill, this is the first thing to look at.
Slow filling
A slow fill is a different complaint from no water. Bosch UAE's test answers it directly: if the tap delivers well under 10 litres a minute, the dishwasher is waiting on the supply. The inlet filter at the hose is the next place, because a screen with debris on it narrows the flow even when the tap is wide open. We do not know how often this happens in Dubai buildings and will not guess.
Fills but then stops
If the dishwasher filled earlier and now does not, Bosch UK and Singapore point at the drain. A tub filter full of food, or a waste hose that is kinked or blocked, stops the old water leaving, and the machine does not refill. Check the filter first. It takes two minutes and needs no tools, and our filter guide shows the steps.
A code and a good supply
If the 10 litres a minute test passes, the hose is straight, both filters are clean and E14 or E3000 returns, the owner checks are used up. That is the point where Bosch's list says to contact support, and where we would visit.
How we separate the causes on a visit
This section is our own method and not a Bosch procedure. We set it out so you can see what the inspection fee buys.
Before we touch the machine
We ask for the E-Nr, the code and what you have already tried, as in the list further down. That lets the technician arrive with the likely parts and the right access plan. For an integrated machine behind a cabinet panel, we ask whether the plinth and the panel can be removed without damaging the kitchen.
On site, outside in
The technician works from the tap inwards, because each step is quicker and cheaper than the next. The tap and the supply flow come first. Then the hose run and its kinks, then the connection and its filter, then the tub filter and the drain. Only when all of those are clear does the work move inside the machine to the valve and the flow meter.
Why the order matters
An inlet valve is replaced only after the cheaper causes have been ruled out. A valve replaced because the code said "fill fault", when the real cause was a screen packed with debris, is money spent for nothing. The inspection exists to prevent that. The AED 99 is credited to the repair if you go ahead.
What happens if the cause is outside the machine
If the supply is weak, the fix is the plumbing and not the dishwasher. We tell you, show you the bucket result, and charge the AED 99 inspection only. Bosch's own pages send you to a plumber or fitter in that case, so the advice is consistent with theirs.
What happens when the valve is the cause
We name the part on the quote, give the price including the AED 99 credit and tell you whether it is on the van. If it is, the repair finishes on that visit. If not, we order against your E-Nr and book a second visit, and you approve the price before anything is ordered.
Mistakes that cost money
These are the errors that turn a small fault into a larger bill. They follow from what Bosch's pages say, and they are ours as a list. We do not claim how common each one is.
- Cleaning the wrong filter. The tub filter is the one you clean as routine care. The inlet filter is a different part at a different end of the machine. Cleaning one and expecting the other to improve does nothing.
- Testing the pressure with the hose still connected. Bosch's test needs the hose off and a bucket below, so you measure the tap and not the machine.
- Forcing a connector. A stuck hose connector can crack a fitting, and a cracked fitting leaks. Stop and book.
- Soaking or opening the AquaStop block. Our dishwasher page says not to. The valve inside it is a safety part.
- Ordering a valve from a code. Bosch US's list says E14 and E3000 are a flow meter or fill problem. That is two possible parts, and neither is confirmed by the code alone.
- Repeated restarts. Our dishwasher page says each restart asks a failing part to work again.
The cheapest rule
Do the steps in the order Bosch's pages give them, and stop when a step needs a tool, a panel or a mains connection.
What the quote should say
You should never approve a fill repair on a bare "dishwasher not filling, AED 300". A proper quote names:
- The part that failed: inlet valve, flow meter, hose assembly or a combination.
- The part number, which also appears on your invoice.
- Whether it is in stock, and the wait if it is not.
- The labour and the visit, with the AED 99 credit shown.
- The 5% VAT, as a separate line.
- The warranty: 90 days on the parts fitted and the labour for the repaired fault.
- What you pay if you decline: AED 99 plus VAT.
If any of these is missing, ask. A quote that cannot name the part has not finished diagnosing.
Comparing quotes
When you compare with another quote, compare what was diagnosed. A lower figure that covers "check and clean" is not the same as a higher figure that replaces a named valve and carries a warranty. Our dishwasher page gives AED 170 to 320 for this fault, and a figure far outside that range deserves a question, whichever side it falls on.
Integrated and freestanding machines
Access changes the visit, and the fault is the same either way. This is our experience of the work and not a Bosch statement.
Freestanding
A freestanding machine pulls out from under the worktop, and the hose connections at the back and the valve behind the lower panel are within reach of one technician. This is the quicker case, and the 45 to 90 minutes on our price table assumes it.
Integrated
An integrated machine sits behind a cabinet door panel and between fixed units. Pulling it out may mean removing the plinth, loosening the fixing to the worktop and managing the hoses in a narrow space. It can take longer, and we ask before the visit whether the machine is integrated. We do not add a fixed surcharge here and the written quote shows any difference.
Why it matters for the hose test
The 10 litres a minute test is done at the tap, so the machine does not need to move. The tap is often under the sink beside the machine, and with an integrated unit it may be reachable without pulling anything out. Do that part yourself, and leave the machine in place.
Repair or replace the dishwasher
An inlet valve is one of the routine dishwasher repairs. Our dishwasher page says drain pumps, door seals, inlet valves and latches are routine, affordable repairs, and that control modules and heating faults are the ones that need more thought.
As an illustration with an assumed new price of AED 2,200, a quote of AED 240 is about 11%, well under our rule of thumb of half. Check current prices before you decide. The question that matters more is what else is wearing. If the seal is split, the pump is noisy and the racks are rusting, the valve is the first of several bills.

Frequently asked questions
Where is the filter in a Bosch dishwasher?
There are two you can reach. The tub filter set is in the bottom of the machine, and our filter guide covers it. The inlet filter is at the water connection where the hose meets the machine, per Bosch UAE.
How do I clean the inlet filter?
Bosch UAE says: turn off the tap, remove the hose, rinse the filter under running water, brush it with a small brush, reconnect and check for leaks.
My dishwasher takes no water. What does Bosch say to check?
The supply valve, the hoses for kinks, the water pressure (about 10 litres a minute) and the filter. Bosch UK and Singapore add the waste hose test.
Can a blocked filter stop it filling?
Bosch UK and Singapore say a blocked tub filter stops the machine draining the previous cycle, which prevents refilling. Bosch UAE says a clogged filter at the hose connection can stop it.
What do E14, E16, E17 and E18 mean?
On Bosch US's list: E14 is a flow meter failure or water fill problem, E16 and E17 are water fill problems, and E18 is water level too low or water not pumped correctly. Bosch says to contact support.
Can I replace the inlet valve myself?
Bosch Singapore says it advises against attempting repairs yourself if the problem continues, and the valve is inside the machine. We do not recommend it.
Can I replace a Bosch dishwasher filter?
Bosch's pages describe cleaning the filters, not replacing them. If one is damaged or missing, it is ordered against your E-Nr.
Should I open the plastic block on the hose?
No. Our dishwasher page says not to cut the hose, soak the block or open it. If the valve has stuck, replace the whole hose.
How much does it cost in Dubai?
An inlet valve or flow meter repair is typically AED 170 to 320 before 5% VAT, with the AED 99 inspection credited if you approve. The written quote gives the exact figure.
Why does my dishwasher fill slowly?
Low water pressure is the first of Bosch's causes, and the 10 litres a minute test checks it. A kinked hose and a clogged inlet filter are the next.
My dishwasher is under warranty. Should I still message you?
Contact Bosch first. We are an independent repair company and not an authorised Bosch agent, and a repair by us may not be covered by the manufacturer's warranty terms.
