Bosch Dishwasher Heating Element Replacement in Dubai

Heating element or heater on a Bosch dishwasher: not heating versus not drying, what Bosch says, which codes point at the heater, and what the repair costs in Dubai.

Bosch Dishwasher Heating Element and Heater Replacement in Dubai: Not Heating, Not Drying, Which Part, and Cost

"Dishwasher not heating" and "dishwasher not drying" sound like one complaint, and the Bosch support pages treat them as two. Wet dishes come with a list of checks you can do yourself: rinse aid, loading, the programme, how long you wait before unloading. A dishwasher that does not heat the water at all gets one instruction from Bosch UK: book an engineer. Bosch Singapore says "we advise against attempting repairs yourself."

The heater itself is the part that sends people to search for "heating element replacement". On a Bosch dishwasher that word can mean different things. Bosch UK's E09 page calls the part a heating element. Bosch's US code list talks about a heat pump internal heater, and separately about a zeolite chamber heater. Which one your machine has decides the part, the price and the time on site.

This page does four things. It separates a heating fault from a drying complaint, so you do not pay for a part you do not need. It sets out what each Bosch page says, and where they stay silent. It explains the heater-related codes. And it gives the cost of a heater repair in Dubai, with a worked example.

We repair Bosch appliances. We are an independent company and not an authorised Bosch agent. If your dishwasher is inside Bosch's warranty, call Bosch first. For other faults see our Bosch dishwasher repair page.

At a glance

  • Wet dishes are often not a heater fault. Bosch UAE's "dishes wet" page lists seven checks, and none of them mentions heating.
  • A machine that does not heat the water at all is a repair job. Bosch UK says to book an engineer, and Bosch Singapore advises against repairing it yourself.
  • The "heater" depends on the model. Bosch UK's E09 page says the heating element is defective. Bosch US's list names a heat pump internal heater (E09, E20), a zeolite chamber heater (E10) and a blocked heat pump (E21).
  • E12 is different. Bosch US says it is limescale build-up in the heat pump, and says to descale.
  • Bosch's owner steps for the heat codes: reset power at the breaker for 30 seconds, then call support. E04 has no reset step.
  • The heater circuit carries mains voltage. Do not remove panels or test it.
  • A heater repair in Dubai: typically AED 300 to 480 before 5% VAT, with a 90-day warranty on our repairs.

Not heating versus not drying

Start by deciding which complaint you have. The two have different causes and different bills.

What you notice Most likely a heating fault? What to do first
Dishes are clean, but wet or beaded with water at the end Not necessarily Work through Bosch's wet-dish checks below
Plastics are wet and glass and steel are dry No. Bosch UK and Singapore say plastics "do not retain heat" Use a drying option, if your model has one
Dishes are cold at the end, grease stays on them, cycles are long Yes, possibly Note any code, then book
A heat or drying code on the display Yes, possibly Use the code table below
Dishes and the tub are cold to the touch at the end of a hot programme Yes, possibly Note the programme and any code, then book

Why this matters

A heater fault is a mains-voltage repair, and Bosch's pages send you to an engineer. A wet-dish complaint is usually fixed with a rinse aid refill. The cost difference is the AED 99 inspection fee on one side and nothing on the other. Check the free causes first.

What a clean but wet load can tell you

If the dishes come out clean, the wash worked, and the wash needs hot water on most programmes. Clean dishes tell you the wash worked. They do not tell you the drying stage did. No Bosch page we read links the two, so the order is ours: start with the checks that cost nothing, and move to the heater only when the dishes are cold or a code appears.

What a cold load can tell you

Cold dishes, grease left on plastics and a cycle that runs far longer than it used to are signs our dishwasher page lists for a heater in doubt. If you see them together with a code, the code table is the next step. If you see them with no code, tell us which programme you ran.

What Bosch's pages say about wet dishes

We read the wet-dish pages on five Bosch sites. They overlap, and they differ in what they leave out.

Bosch site What it lists Heater or heating mentioned? If the steps fail
UAE ("dishes wet") Seven checks, below No Contact line BSH 048030400
UK ("not heating or drying") Loading, plastics, rinse aid, a more intense programme, PerfectDry where fitted Only for "not heating at all": book an engineer Online engineer booking
Singapore ("not heating up") The same three causes as the UK page Only for "not heating at all": advises against repairing it yourself A Bosch engineer, booked online
Kuwait ("not drying") Loading, plastics, rinse aid, an intense programme No A Bosch service expert
US ("dishes wet") Spacing, rinse aid, Sanitize or Extra Dry No Bosch Customer Support, with a service finder

Bosch UAE's seven checks

Bosch UAE's page is the one closest to your situation, so we give its checks in full.

  1. Water pooling between items. Water collects in recesses between dishes and cutlery. Leave space when stacking.
  2. Rinse aid. Check whether the tank is empty or low and refill it.
  3. Programme. Check whether you chose a programme without drying, and pick one with drying.
  4. Extra drying. Activate extra drying or enhanced dryness if your model has it.
  5. Cleaning product. Try another combined cleaning product with better drying performance. The page adds that rinse aid helps too.
  6. Unloading too early. Wait for the programme to end and leave the dishes in for at least 30 minutes after it finishes.
  7. Eco rinse aid. Eco products often dry less well, so branded rinse aid is recommended.

The page says that checking all of them should solve the problem. It does not mention heating, plastics, error codes or repair, and its only contact is the BSH line.

What the other four add

The UK, Singapore and Kuwait pages add plastics: the material "does not retain heat", so plastics dry poorly, and models with PerfectDry have a function for them. They add that rinse aid should be used even if the detergent contains it, because rinse aid is released at a different point in the cycle than pods and tablets. The Singapore and Kuwait pages say loading with space between items lets heat spread evenly. The US page adds Sanitize and Extra Dry.

Where the sources differ

The UAE page leaves out plastics and the "rinse aid with a pod detergent" point. The UK, Singapore and Kuwait pages leave out the 30-minute wait and eco rinse aid. We do not treat any of that as a conflict, and the sensible approach is to use every check from every page.

What none of them says

  • How to tell a heater fault from a drying fault on your own.
  • What temperature the water should reach.
  • How long a heater lasts.
  • What a repair costs.

Which part counts as "the heater"

This is where the search term and the Bosch wording come apart. People search for "heating element". Bosch's own pages use three different words.

Bosch wording Where it appears What it refers to
"Heating element" Bosch UK's E09 page, as quoted on our E09 guide The heater for the wash water
"Heat pump internal heater" Bosch US code list: E09, E20, E2030, E6001 A heater inside the heat pump assembly
"Zeolite (Crystal Dry) chamber heater" Bosch US code list: E10, E2120 The heater in the zeolite drying chamber

What we can say and what we cannot

Bosch UK calls the E09 fault a defective heating element. Bosch US calls the same code a heat pump internal heater fault. Neither explains the term, and neither says whether the parts are the same. Our E09 guide sets the two wordings out and gives our reading of them.

We do not say here how the heater is built into your model. Our dishwasher page says only that some Bosch machines heat and dry through a heat pump rather than a plain element, and that selected models dry with a zeolite chamber and fan, which adds a fan and a heater to the list of parts that can fail.

Why it matters for the part

A repair on a plain element is one job. A fault inside a heat pump assembly or a zeolite chamber is another, and the part and the labour are different. So the E-Nr decides the part, and the code is a clue to where the technician looks first. We never order a heater from the code alone.

What "replacement" may mean in practice

The quote names the part. In some cases it is a heater, in others an assembly that contains one. We tell you which before you approve, and the part number appears on your invoice.

The heating and drying codes on Bosch's list

Bosch US's list is the most complete we found for heat-related codes. The UK and Kuwait pages cover E09 only. The table is the US list, with our notes.

Code What Bosch US says Bosch US's instruction Our note
E01 Heat pump motor circuit fault at the main control board Reset power at the breaker for 30 seconds, then call support A circuit and board fault. See our control board guide
E04, E0105 Faulty (heater) electronics found in the self-test Contact support. No reset step Electronics, not the element itself
E07, E2130 Zeolite (Crystal Dry) fan motor defective Reset, then call support A fan, not a heater
E09, E20, E2030, E6001 Heat pump internal heater fault Reset, then call support The heater. See the E09 guide
E10, E2120 Zeolite chamber heater fault Reset, then call support A drying-stage heater
E12, E2060 Limescale build-up in the heat pump Descale with the Bosch descaler. Descale regularly. Use softening salt if the model has a softener function The one heat code with an owner fix
E21, E6002 Heat pump blocked Reset, then call support A blocked part, not a failed element

Four points from the table

Only E12 has a real owner step. Everything else is a reset followed by a call. That is consistent with the UK and Singapore advice on a machine that does not heat at all.

Not every heat code is the element. E01 is a motor circuit at the board. E04 is electronics. E07 is a fan. E21 is a blockage. Replacing a heater for any of these would be the wrong repair, and that is why we diagnose before we quote.

The four-digit codes are the same descriptions. E2030 and E6001 carry the same wording as E09 and E20. Our dishwasher page says Bosch's newer four-digit codes map onto the same faults.

E04 has no reset. It is the one heat-related entry where Bosch says to contact support straight away.

E12 and descaling

E12 is worth a closer look because it is the only code here with an owner fix. Bosch US says the heat pump has limescale build-up, and that the dishwasher needs descaling with the Bosch descaler. Bosch also recommends regular descaling and, if the model has a water softener function, using softening salt.

The Bosch US text we read does not give a descaling interval, a programme name or a product number, and we do not add them. Check your manual. If E12 returns after a descale, the next step is a technician, since the owner fix has been used.

What you can safely do

These steps come from Bosch's pages and our dishwasher page, and none of them touches a panel or a wire.

  1. Note the code and when it appeared. Our dishwasher page says the point in the cycle (filling, washing, draining, drying) narrows the cause faster than the code does.
  2. Check the rinse aid compartment. Our dishwasher page calls an empty one the commonest reason for a sudden drop in drying. Bosch UAE, UK, Singapore and US all give rinse aid as a drying step.
  3. Check the programme. Bosch UAE says to choose one with drying, and extra drying if your model has it.
  4. Leave the dishes in for 30 minutes after the end. Bosch UAE.
  5. Reload with space between items, and put plastics where they can drain. All five Bosch sites.
  6. Reset once. Cut power at the breaker for 30 seconds and restore it. This is Bosch US's step for E01, E07, E09, E10, E20 and E21. Try it once. Our dishwasher page says not to keep resetting, since each restart asks a failing part to work again.
  7. Descale, if you see E12. Bosch US.
  8. Stop and book if the dishes are cold, the code returns or you smell burning.

One run to test

After steps 2 to 5, run one cycle and see whether the problem has changed. Our dishwasher page suggests filling the rinse aid and running an extended or hot programme before you suspect a part. That gives you a clean test.

What to do about plastics

Wet plastics alone are not a fault. Bosch UK, Singapore and Kuwait say the material does not retain heat. If your model has PerfectDry, the pages say to select it. If wet plastics are the whole complaint, you have no heater problem.

What to leave alone

  • The base panel and any cover. The heater circuit carries mains voltage. Our dishwasher page says there is no safe owner check beyond the reset and a descale.
  • Any test with a meter. We give no resistance or voltage values, because no Bosch page does and a wrong reading leads to a wrong part.
  • A heater bought by code. Bosch US's heat codes cover motors, electronics, a fan, a blockage and limescale as well as heaters, so a part bought from a code may be the wrong one.
  • Repeated resets. One is Bosch's step. More are not.
  • Running the machine with a burning smell, a tripping switch or water on the floor. Our dishwasher page says to stop for these.

A note on descaling products

Use the descaler Bosch names for E12. We did not read a Bosch dishwasher descaling guide beyond that one US entry, so we name only the product it names and give no other recipe.

How we test on a visit

This is our method and not a Bosch procedure.

Before the visit

We ask for the E-Nr, the code and a description of the symptom. Whether the machine washes clean but dries poorly, or runs cold, decides which parts we bring. We ask which programme was running when the code appeared.

On site

The technician starts with what costs nothing: rinse aid, programme, loading and the reset. Then the machine is run and checked with proper test equipment, which is the part Bosch's pages leave to an engineer. We separate a heater fault from the sensor, the board and the other parts that give similar symptoms.

What we do not do

We do not guess from the code, and we do not replace a heater to see whether the symptom goes away. The quote names the part that failed and how we confirmed it.

Why the inspection is worth the fee

If the cause is rinse aid or a programme, you pay the AED 99 inspection and nothing more. If it is a heater or a board, the AED 99 comes off the repair. Either way you know what failed.

If the fault is the board

A board fault can look like a heater fault, because the board switches the heater. Our control board guide covers that repair, and our dishwasher page lists the heater and the board as separate lines.

Matching the part to your machine

The series name does not decide the heater. Our dishwasher page says two Serie 4 dishwashers with different model numbers can use different pumps, heaters and control modules, and that the E-Nr on the rating plate is the number that matters. The rating plate is a sticker that is usually on the edge of the door or the inner side panel when you open it. Photograph it before you call.

Plain, heat pump or zeolite

Whether your model heats with a plain element, a heat pump or a zeolite chamber changes the part. The E-Nr tells us, and the technician confirms on site. We do not tell you from the model name.

Stock

Our dishwasher page says we carry drain pumps, door seals, inlet valves and latches for popular Bosch models, and that model-specific parts such as control modules and heaters are ordered once the fault is confirmed. So a heater repair is usually a diagnosis visit followed by a second visit with the part. Sending the E-Nr in advance lets us check availability, and sometimes finish in one visit.

What we do not claim

We do not claim a part is original Bosch because of a number. The part number appears on your invoice.

The visit and the cost

The AED 99 inspection includes the visit, the diagnosis and a written quote. If you approve the repair, the AED 99 comes off the price. If you decline, it is all you pay.

Typical costs, excluding 5% VAT

Fault What is done Time on site Price (AED)
Not heating Replace the heating element, sensor or other confirmed part 60 to 120 min 300 – 480
Board fault found instead See the control board guide Varies 350 – 540

What moves the quote

The part moves it most. A plain element, a heat pump assembly and a zeolite heater are different parts. Access moves it next: a machine built in behind a cabinet panel takes longer to pull out and refit. And stock decides whether the price covers one visit or two.

A worked example

A technician confirms a failed heater on a freestanding machine. The all-in price is AED 400, which includes the AED 99 inspection. VAT adds AED 20, so you pay AED 420. If you decline the quote, you pay AED 99 plus AED 4.95 VAT, a total of AED 103.95.

The warranty

Every repair carries a 90-day warranty on the parts fitted and the labour for the repaired fault. If the same fault returns inside 90 days, we come back at no charge.

Is it the heater, the sensor or the board

A dishwasher that stays cold has several possible causes, and our dishwasher page lists three together on the "Not heating" line: the heating element, a temperature sensor and a heat-pump fault. The board that switches the heater is a fourth. This table is ours. It explains why a technician cannot name the part from the symptom alone.

Part What it does, in plain terms What a fault looks like to you Who can tell them apart
Heater (element or heat-pump heater) Warms the water Cold or lukewarm water, a heat code A technician with test equipment
Temperature sensor Tells the machine how hot the water is The machine may behave as if the water is the wrong temperature A technician
Main control board Switches the heater and the pumps A code on the board circuit (E01), or no heat with a sound heater A technician. See the control board guide
Heat pump or zeolite assembly Heats and dries on selected models A heat-pump or zeolite code A technician

Why we do not name the part over the phone

The same symptom, a cold dishwasher, can come from any row. Bosch US's list shows the same spread: its heat codes cover a motor circuit, an internal heater, a chamber heater, a fan, a blockage, limescale and a self-test fault in the electronics. Naming one part from "it's cold" would be a guess, and a wrong guess costs you a part you did not need.

What the code narrows down

A code gets you a row. E09 and E20 point at the heater. E01 points at the board circuit. E10 points at the zeolite heater. A cold dishwasher with no code gives us less, and the technician starts from the machine.

Reading the symptom by cycle stage

Our dishwasher page tells you to write down the point in the cycle when the problem appeared, since that narrows the cause faster than the code does. For a heat complaint, that gives you a way to describe the fault that a technician can use. This section is our guidance.

When you notice it What to write down
At the start of the wash Whether the code appeared straight away or after the machine filled
In the main wash Whether the cycle runs much longer than it used to, and whether the tub is warm
At the end of the cycle Whether the dishes are hot to the touch, and whether the code appears only now
After the drying stage Whether the dishes are clean and wet, or dirty and cold

Why the end-of-cycle code matters

The forum account quoted on our E09 guide describes a code that appeared at the end of a quick cycle and not the start. Third-party reports are not Bosch evidence, and we do not lean on them. But it is why we ask when the code appeared and not only what it said.

How to describe a long cycle

A cycle that runs much longer than it used to is one of the signs our dishwasher page links to a heater in doubt. Note the programme and roughly how long it takes now. We do not give an expected cycle time here, because it depends on the model and the programme, and Bosch's pages we read do not give one.

A way to test the wet-dish checks

Bosch's pages give a list of checks, and a list invites you to change everything at once. Then you do not know what worked. This routine is ours and costs nothing.

  1. Refill the rinse aid and change nothing else. Run your usual programme.
  2. If the dishes are still wet, change the programme to one with drying or extra drying, as Bosch UAE says.
  3. If they are still wet, leave the next load in the machine for 30 minutes after the programme ends, as Bosch UAE says.
  4. Then reload with more space between items, and put plastics where they can drain.
  5. After four loads, note which change helped. If none did, and the dishes are cold or a code has appeared, that is a heater question.

Why one change at a time

If you change the rinse aid, the detergent, the programme and the loading together, a good result tells you nothing. If the rinse aid alone fixes it, you have saved the cost of an inspection. If nothing helps, you can tell the technician what you tried and what changed.

What counts as success

Dishes that come out dry enough for glass and steel, with plastics a little damp. Bosch UK, Singapore and Kuwait all say plastics do not retain heat, so a damp plastic lid is not evidence of a fault.

Can you keep using it

Our dishwasher page answers this for the whole machine. If the fault is poor cleaning or slow drying, short cycles are usually safe. Stop completely if there is a leak, a burning smell, a tripping switch, E15, or a code you cannot explain.

For a heat code

Bosch US gives a reset and then a call to support. Bosch UK and Kuwait say not to try to resolve E09 at home. We would not run the machine repeatedly on a heat code. Run it once after a reset, and if the code returns, leave it off and book.

For wet dishes only

If the dishes are clean and only wet, there is no reason to stop using the machine while you try the checks. Dry the dishes with a cloth and carry on.

Keeping the heater healthy

Bosch's pages say little here, and we keep to what they say.

  • Descale when the machine tells you to, using the Bosch descaler. Bosch US says to descale regularly.
  • Use softening salt if your model has a water softener function. Bosch US says so on the E12 entry.
  • Keep the rinse aid filled. It helps drying on every Bosch page we read, and our dishwasher page calls an empty compartment the commonest reason for a sudden drop in drying.
  • Leave the door ajar after a cycle if the machine does not open it for you. Our dishwasher page gives this as a way to let the seal and tub dry.

What we cannot give you

An interval. Bosch US says "regularly" and does not name one in the text we read. Your manual may name one for your model.

Questions to ask before you approve a heater quote

  1. Which part failed, and how was it confirmed? The answer should name a heater, a sensor, a board or an assembly.
  2. Is it a plain element, a heat-pump heater or a zeolite heater? Bosch's list uses all three terms.
  3. Is the part in stock? If not, what is the wait, and is a second visit charged?
  4. Is the AED 99 inspection credited?
  5. What is the warranty on the part and the labour? Ours is 90 days.
  6. What will the machine do if I decline? Ours leaves it as found, and you pay the inspection and VAT.

A quote that cannot answer

If a quote cannot say which part failed, it has not finished diagnosing. A heater replaced on a guess may not cure a board or sensor fault, and you pay for both.

Bosch support or an independent repairer

If the dishwasher is inside Bosch's warranty, contact Bosch first. Bosch UAE's pages give BSH 048030400. Our independent service centre page explains how to decide, and we do not claim to be authorised.

Outside warranty, the practical differences are the visit time, the quote and who stands behind the repair. We give a written quote before work starts and a 90-day warranty on our repairs.

What the sources leave open

Five Bosch sites and the US code list give us a clear picture of what an owner can do. They leave several things open, and we would rather say so than fill the gap.

  • Whether the element and the heat pump heater are the same part. Bosch UK and Bosch US word E09 differently and neither explains the term.
  • What temperature the water should reach. None of the pages gives one.
  • How often descaling is needed. Bosch US says "regularly".
  • How long a heater lasts, or how often it is the cause. Not covered.
  • A price, which is why the figures on this page are ours.

If a repair site gives you a confident figure for any of these, ask where it comes from.

Repair or replace the dishwasher

Our dishwasher page says control modules and heating faults deserve a closer look at the machine's age and condition. Its rule is that if the repair costs more than about half of a comparable new dishwasher, or if the machine is past ten years old and has had two serious faults, you should replace it.

Its worked examples use about AED 2,200 for a new machine. An AED 400 heater repair is about 18% of that, which is on the repair side of the line. Check current prices before you decide. If the same machine also has a split door seal and a noisy pump, the heater is the first of several bills, and replacing it may be the better choice.

What to tell us

  • The E-Nr from the rating plate, as a photo.
  • The display, as a photo, with any code or light pattern.
  • Which complaint you have: cold dishes, long cycles, wet dishes, or a code.
  • What you changed: rinse aid, programme, loading, detergent.
  • When it began: after a descale, after a power cut, or gradually.
  • Whether you reset it, and what happened.
  • Any smell, tripped switch or water on the floor.
  • Access: integrated or freestanding, and your building's rules.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my Bosch dishwasher not heating?

Bosch's pages do not give a cause. Bosch UK says a dishwasher that is not heating the water at all needs an engineer, and Bosch Singapore advises against repairing it yourself. Our dishwasher page lists the heating element, a temperature sensor and a heat-pump fault as the usual ends.

Why are my dishes still wet?

Often not a heater fault. Bosch UAE lists seven checks, including rinse aid, the programme, extra drying and leaving the dishes in for 30 minutes after the cycle.

Do plastics dry badly in a Bosch dishwasher?

Yes. Bosch UK, Singapore and Kuwait say plastics do not retain heat. If your model has PerfectDry, they say to select it.

Does a Bosch dishwasher have a heating element?

Bosch UK's E09 page says the heating element is defective. Bosch US's list names a heat pump internal heater and a zeolite chamber heater. The part depends on the model, and the E-Nr tells us which.

What does E09 mean?

Bosch UK calls it a defective heating element, and Bosch US calls it a heat pump internal heater fault. See our E09 guide.

What does E12 mean, and can I fix it?

Bosch US says E12 is limescale build-up in the heat pump and that you should descale with the Bosch descaler. It is the one heat code with an owner fix.

Can I replace the heating element myself?

We do not recommend it. The circuit carries mains voltage, Bosch UK does not recommend resolving E09 on your own, and Bosch Singapore advises against repairs yourself.

How much does it cost in Dubai?

A heater repair is typically AED 300 to 480 before 5% VAT, with the AED 99 inspection credited if you approve. The written quote gives the exact figure.

Is it worth repairing?

Usually, if the machine is under about ten years old and the repair is under half the price of a new one. Our dishwasher page gives the rule.

Should I reset it more than once?

No. Bosch US's step is one reset. Our dishwasher page says each restart asks a failing part to work again.

Do I still need rinse aid if my detergent already contains it?

Yes. Bosch UK, Singapore and Kuwait say to use rinse aid even then, because rinse aid is released at a different point in the cycle than pods and tablets.

How long should I leave the dishes in after the cycle ends?

Bosch UAE says at least 30 minutes after the programme finishes.

Is the heating element the same as the heat pump heater?

We cannot say from Bosch's pages. Bosch UK calls E09 a defective heating element, and Bosch US calls it a heat pump internal heater fault. Neither explains the difference, so the E-Nr and a technician decide.

My dishwasher is under warranty. Should I still message you?

Contact Bosch first. We are an independent repair company and not an authorised Bosch agent, and a repair by us may not be covered by the manufacturer's warranty terms.
