Bosch Dishwasher Drain Pump Replacement in Dubai
Search for a Bosch dishwasher pump and you will find three different parts under similar names. The drain pump empties dirty water out of the machine. A circulation pump, which some owners call "the water pump", moves water round during the wash. And Bosch's error codes talk about a "heat pump", which is not the pump you are probably thinking of. A quote for the wrong one means a wasted visit.
This page is about the first of them, the drain pump: how to tell that it, and not something cheaper, is your problem, what the replacement part depends on, who should fit it, and what it costs in Dubai. The cleaning steps and the error code itself are covered elsewhere on this site. If you have not yet cleaned the filter and the pump cover, start with our E24 guide, which walks through them with Bosch's own steps.
We are an independent Bosch appliance repair company, not the manufacturer, and we are not an authorised Bosch agent. If your dishwasher is inside Bosch's warranty, call Bosch first. For the wider list of dishwasher faults and prices, see our Bosch dishwasher repair page.
At a glance
- Typical cost: a failed drain pump falls in our AED 160 to 340 range for the not-draining fault, excluding 5% VAT. A jammed impeller or a failed pump is the top of that range, AED 220 to 320 in our E24 guide. The AED 99 inspection is credited to the repair if you go ahead.
- Typical time: 45 to 90 minutes on site when the right pump is in the van.
- Which codes name the drain pump: Bosch's US list says E23 and E6101 mean "an issue with the drain pump", blocked, clogged or faulty. E22, E24, E25, E6102 and E6103 list the pump as one cause among several.
- Do the cheap checks first. Filter, pump cover, hose and airgap, as Bosch UAE sets them out.
- The part depends on the model. Send the E-Nr and FD numbers from the rating plate and we confirm the pump before the visit.
- The "heat pump" is a different job. Bosch's E01, E09, E20 and E21 codes belong on our E09 guide, and the price for that work is quoted after diagnosis.
- What Bosch's pages do not say: none of the pages we read describes replacing the pump. Where this page goes further, it says so.
Which pump do you mean? Drain, circulation or "heat pump"
The word "pump" covers three jobs in a Bosch dishwasher, and the symptoms point to different ones. Getting this right before you call saves a wasted visit.
The drain pump
The drain pump pushes dirty water out of the machine and into the drain hose. Its symptom is water left in the base after the cycle, and the display usually shows a drain code. That is the pump this page is about.
Bosch UAE describes the drain side of the machine in terms of what you can reach: the filter unit at the base, then the pump area beneath it, with a cover you can lift off, and then the hose. The page lists the causes as foreign objects, such as slivers of glass, food or dirt, that clog the filters and the pump, and a kinked or twisted hose.
The circulation pump, or "water pump"
Several of the keywords people use say "water pump". The circulation pump moves water from the base up to the spray arms during the wash. A general parts-site article we read, which is not about Bosch and names a Whirlpool part, describes the split this way: the circulation pump runs for most of the cycle and pauses while the machine drains, and the drain pump only empties the tub. It lists dirty dishes and long cycles among the signs of a failed circulation pump.
Our dishwasher overview gives the same account in our own words. Once the filter, the spray arms and the nozzles are ruled out and the dishes are still dirty, the circulation pump is the suspect. That is a different job from this page, and its range on our overview is AED 180 to 460.
The "heat pump"
Bosch's US error code list uses "heat pump" in five codes. E01 is a "heat pump motor circuit fault at the main control board". E09 and E20 are a "heat pump internal heater fault". E21 says "the heat pump is blocked". E12 says there is limescale build-up in the heat pump and tells you to descale the dishwasher. E10 is separate: a fault in the zeolite chamber heater.
Bosch does not explain the term. Our reading, which is the same one our E09 guide gives, is that the dishwasher's "heat pump" is the circulation pump with the heater built into it, and that it has nothing to do with the heat pump in a tumble dryer. One parts seller, Ricambi, supports that reading: it lists a "Heat Pump Wash Motor" for Bosch Serie 6 SuperSilence codes in the SMP68M05AU family and says it "in most cases, solves E09, E10, E20 and E21 errors". That is one seller's claim and not Bosch's, and we use it only as a pointer.
The practical result is simple. If your display shows E01, E09, E20 or E21, you are not looking at a drain pump problem, and a drain pump will not cure it. Our overview puts heating faults at AED 300 to 480, and the quote follows a diagnosis.
Matching the symptom to the part
| What you see | Most likely part | Where to go |
|---|---|---|
| Dirty water left in the base, drain code | Drain pump, or something blocking it | This page and our E24 guide |
| Water drains, but dishes come out dirty | Spray arms, nozzles, or the circulation pump | Our dishwasher repair page |
| Cold wash, E09, E20, E21 or E01 | Heater or heat pump | Our E09 guide |
| Loud grinding or crunching | Debris in a pump | This page, after clearing the pump cover |
What Bosch's code lists say about the drain pump
Two groups of Bosch codes are about drainage, and only one of them says the pump itself is the fault. The difference decides how much cleaning is worth trying first.
E23 and E6101: the pump itself
Bosch's US list words E23 as "an issue with the drain pump", which happens "when the drain pump is blocked, clogged, or faulty", and its action is to contact Bosch customer support. E6101 gets the same fault text and the same action.
Bosch Malta's page for E23 calls it a fault with the "waste water pump", which it says "can only be eliminated by an experienced engineer". It lists no causes and gives no steps. It offers a contact link and an online engineer booking. Waste water pump is the component that removes water from the dishwasher, so we read the two pages as describing the same part in different words.
Neither page mentions replacing the pump. They send you to an engineer. Bosch's own wording includes "blocked, clogged", so a blockage remains possible.
E22, E24, E25, E6102 and E6103: the pump as one suspect
For these codes Bosch's US list gives one list of causes, in this order. The filter is blocked. The drain pump is blocked, or its cover is loose. The hose is kinked or sharply bent. The airgap or the drain hose may be clogged with debris. For E22 and E24, if the issue remains after a reset, it says to contact support. For the others it says the same if the issue still exists.
Our E24 guide walks through each of those four checks, with the safety steps, and we do not repeat them here. The point for this page is what the list implies. These codes do not say the pump has failed. They say the water did not leave, and the pump is one of four places to look.
What this tells you
If the display shows E23 or E6101, Bosch itself treats the pump as the likely fault and gives no self-help steps. Our suggestion: a quick look at the cover is still worth it, because a blockage is among the causes Bosch names, but do not spend an evening on it. If the display shows E22, E24 or E25, work through the four checks, and if they are clear and the code returns, the pump moves up the list. Our overview says the same: when the filter, hose and connection are clear and the code returns, the drain pump has probably failed, either humming without moving water or silent.
Cleaned or failed? Bosch UAE's steps, and what comes after
Bosch UAE's page for a dishwasher that is not draining is the one UAE source we have for this fault. We summarise its steps here so you can see where they end. The detailed walk-through with our safety notes is in the E24 guide.
What the Bosch UAE page tells you to do
For the filter: take out the rack, unlock the filter unit at the base and pull it out, unscrew the cylindrical filter to separate the unit, clean both filters under running tap water with a small brush, and refit the unit, twisting it until the two arrows line up. It says not to use anything abrasive.
For the pump: take out the bottom basket and lift the filter unit away, soak up the water with a sponge and ladle the rest out, and wear protective gloves before you put your fingers in the pump area. Prise off the pump cover with a teaspoon, grip it by the lug, pull it up until it resists, then pull it forward. Check the pump for foreign objects, replace the cover until it clicks, put the filter back with the arrows aligned and replace the basket.
For the hose: disconnect the machine from the power supply, check for kinks or twists, remember that the hose may hold very hot water, run the drain programme into a bucket, and if the hose is particularly dirty, consider replacing it.
Where it stops
If the problem persists, the page advises having a Bosch service expert check the appliance and gives the number BSH 048030400. It does not mention noise, and it does not mention replacing the pump. The only replacement it describes is the hose, and only if it is very dirty. Bosch's code lists end the same way: after the checks, a person takes over.
Signs that point to a failed pump
The next three points are our reading, drawn from the faults our technicians see and set out on our overview and E24 pages. They are not Bosch's.
- The pump is silent when the machine tries to drain. The drum has water, the display shows a drain code and you hear nothing from the base. The motor may have failed, the wiring may be faulty, or the board may not be driving the pump. We cannot tell these apart from outside the machine.
- The pump hums but the water does not move. Our overview says a loud hum with no water movement means the drain or circulation pump is jammed or failing. Check the cover again for a splinter of glass or a fruit stone, which our overview names as the usual culprits.
- A grinding or crunching sound during draining. Our overview says this is almost always debris in the pump, and that stuck debris damages the pump impeller if the machine keeps running. We do not run a machine that grinds.
Signs that do not prove it
- A code alone. A drain code says the water did not leave. It does not say where it stopped.
- A slow drain. A partial blockage at the filter, cover or hose gives a slow drain, and cleaning is the first fix.
- A sink that drains badly. The dishwasher hose often connects to the sink waste, and a blocked waste sends dirty water back into the machine. The sink is not a Bosch fault, and our E24 table lists it as inspection only.
The part is model-specific
A drain pump is not a universal part. The evidence in this section is from parts sellers, because Bosch's pages do not discuss part fitment. We read two drain pump listings on 2 November 2026. None is a UAE seller. We do not quote their prices, which are in other currencies and do not describe Dubai.
Two listings
Ricambi, a listing for part 00631200. It describes a Bosch dishwasher drain pump made by Copreci, which it calls both a "replacement compatible with Bosch dishwashers" and an "original Copreci part". Only one model is named: SMS50E32AU. The listing says "numerous Bosch models are compatible" and does not name them. It says the part is for "some NZ dishwashers", which may point to New Zealand models. It says to disconnect the power before installing, and that electrical components should be installed by a qualified electrician.
NWAR, a listing for part 00165261. It is sold as a genuine part, "made by Bosch" in the listing's words, and is marked "Genuine Part: Yes". The model lists it gives are mostly other brands: Baumatic, CDA, Creda, Gorenje, Hotpoint, Tecnik and Whirlpool. It warns that similar-looking pumps may not fit, that the pump's style has changed several times so the new one may not look identical to the old, and that housing colour may differ from the photo. It points out that a lower-cost compatible pump is also on sale, and it carries a long list of alternative part numbers. Its returns terms say you should not book a tradesman until the parts have arrived and been checked, because costs from unsuitable parts are not covered.
What the listings show
- The same pump can fit more than one brand. Ricambi names Copreci as the maker, and NWAR lists other brands' models for its pump. The model list, not the logo, decides.
- Pumps that look alike may not fit. NWAR says so directly, and adds that the style has changed several times.
- "Genuine", "original" and "compatible" all appear. Ricambi uses "original" and "compatible" in the same listing, and NWAR sells a genuine pump and points to a cheaper compatible one. Ask any seller to say in writing who made the part.
- Returns are strict. Read the terms before you pay. NWAR will not take back a part that has been fitted for fault-finding.
- Sellers disclaim fitting errors. Ricambi says it is not liable for damage from incorrect selection or improper installation.
How to order the right pump
Do not order from a photograph or a series name. Use the full E-Nr, and add the FD number if the seller asks. Our dishwasher overview makes the same point: the series number tells you the feature level, not the parts inside, and two Serie 4 dishwashers with different model numbers can use different pumps. Our Serie 4 and Serie 6 guides explain how the codes read.
Bosch's pages do not define the FD number. Our reading is that it identifies the individual machine, and the parts sellers we use ask for it together with the E-Nr. Photograph the whole rating plate and send it. The plate is on the machine, and your manual shows where.
Questions to ask any seller or repairer
The listings suggest five questions. They apply whether you buy a part yourself or accept a quote from us or anyone else.
- Which exact model code is this pump listed for? Ask them to match your full E-Nr, in writing, and not a series name.
- Who made it? Genuine, original and compatible are all used loosely in the listings we read.
- Does the price include the pump cover or any seals? We found no listing that says what is in the box beyond the pump itself, so ask.
- What happens if it does not fit? NWAR excludes parts that have been fitted for fault-finding, and says costs from unsuitable parts are not covered.
- Does the part number appear on the invoice? It is the one record of what went into the machine.
Genuine or compatible: how we handle it
We do not claim every part we fit is made by Bosch. What we promise is that the part number is on your invoice, so you can see what went into the machine. Where a genuine pump and a compatible pump are both available and the price differs, we tell you both and let you choose. We do not know how the two compare for a given model, and we say so before you decide.
Who should fit it: where the sources disagree
The sources do not agree, and the disagreement is worth showing.
- Bosch UAE sends you to a Bosch service expert after the checks.
- Bosch Malta says E23 can only be eliminated by an experienced engineer.
- Bosch US tells you to contact customer support for E23 and E6101.
- Ricambi says electrical components should be installed by a qualified electrician and technical products by a professional technician.
- NWAR says nothing about who fits it, but warns against booking a tradesman before the part has been checked.
Our position
We recommend a technician for the pump itself, for three reasons that belong to this job.
- The pump is a mains-voltage part, and it sits in a machine that holds water. The cleaning steps Bosch describes are done with the machine unplugged. Replacing the pump goes further than those steps, and we found no Bosch procedure for it.
- Access depends on the machine. An integrated dishwasher behind a cabinet panel takes longer to pull out, as our overview says, and Bosch UAE places the pump beneath the filter unit at the base. We give no generic method because we found none from Bosch.
- A wrong pump can look right until it leaks. The NWAR note about styles that changed is the reason.
Cleaning the filter and lifting the pump cover are different. Bosch UAE describes them for owners, and our E24 guide adds our safety notes.
What a replacement visit involves
Bosch publishes no replacement procedure for the dishwasher drain pump that we could find. The visit below is our own process in general terms. It is not a Bosch method, and it is not an instruction for you to follow.
Before we come
We ask for the E-Nr and FD from your rating plate, the code on the display, and what you found when you cleaned the filter and the pump cover. From these we work out the likely pump and tell you if we expect to order it. If the pump has to be ordered, the job may split into two visits: one to confirm the fault and one to fit.
We carry pumps for popular Bosch models, as our overview says. We do not carry every pump. Where we do not hold yours, we tell you before we arrive.
Diagnosis first
The technician repeats the checks on the machine: filter, pump cover, hose and airgap. Then comes the test that decides the job: does the pump receive power, and does it run when the machine asks it to drain? If the pump runs and moves water, we tell you the cause lies elsewhere, such as the hose, the sink waste or the board, and quote for that. Our E24 table puts a control board fault at AED 350 to 540, and we say so before we quote it.
Fitting and testing
With the plug out and the machine drained, the technician removes the old pump and compares it with the new one. The new pump goes in the same position and its connections go back where they came from. Then the machine runs the drain programme. Bosch UAE's own after-checks for the hose say to run the drain programme into a bucket and check for leaks, and we test the pump the same way, watching the first full drain.
We do not describe the removal steps, because they differ between models and we have no Bosch source to quote.
What you do
Clear the space in front of the machine and tell us if it is built in behind a cabinet panel. Empty the machine of dishes. If water is standing in the base, tell us.
What we will not do
We will not replace a pump that tests well. We will not fit a part we cannot name on the invoice. And we will not promise a time on site, because the model decides it. Our overview gives 45 to 90 minutes for a drain job, and that is the figure we use.
Cost: what a Bosch dishwasher drain pump replacement costs in Dubai
Several of the keywords ask about the price of the pump. We found no UAE retailer or service price for a Bosch dishwasher drain pump, and we do not convert overseas listings, so this page gives our own prices only. All prices are in AED and exclude 5% VAT. We do not claim they match what others charge.
| Outcome | What happens | Time | Range (AED) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Filter or sump blocked | Clear the debris, refit the cover, test | 30 to 60 min | 160 – 220 |
| Jammed impeller or failed drain pump | Replace the pump | 60 to 90 min | 220 – 320 |
| Pump needed after a noise fault | Clear the debris or replace the pump | 45 to 90 min | 180 – 360 |
| Pump tests sound | No part, cause elsewhere, quoted separately | covered by inspection | 99 |
The first two rows come from our E24 guide and the third from our overview. The overall range for the not-draining fault on our overview is AED 160 to 340.
A worked example
A Bosch dishwasher shows E23. The owner has lifted the cover and found nothing. The pump is silent when the machine tries to drain, and the technician finds the motor has failed. The part is in the van.
- All-in price: AED 280, including the AED 99 inspection.
- VAT at 5%: AED 14.
- Total: AED 294.
If the owner declines the repair after the inspection, the cost is the AED 99 fee plus VAT of AED 4.95, which is AED 103.95. This is an illustration of how the pieces add up. It is not a quote.
What moves the price within the range
- The part. The model decides it, and we quote it before we order.
- Stock. The price is the same either way, but a second visit costs you time.
- Access. An integrated machine behind a cabinet panel takes longer to pull out and refit.
- A second fault. A damaged hose, a leaking pump housing or a board fault is quoted separately.
- Genuine or compatible, where both are on offer.
Repair the pump or replace the dishwasher?
Our guideline is the one on our overview, and it is ours and not Bosch's: a repair is usually worth doing when the machine is under about ten years old and the repair costs less than half of a new equivalent. The overview gives examples. A three-year-old Serie 6 with a failed pump quoted at AED 300 against about AED 3,000 new is a repair. A twelve-year-old machine with a failed heater and a leaking pump housing, combined quote AED 850, is a closer call, because two faults on an old machine point to more to come.
For a reference new price, our E24 guide dates one UAE retailer listing of the Serie 4 SMS44DI01T at AED 2,499 on 2 November 2026, although it was out of stock at the time. Check current prices before you decide.
After the replacement, and what to send us
A new pump jams for the same reasons an old one does. These habits come from our overview and E24 pages.
- Scrape off solid food. Bones, seeds and peel are what block the filter and the pump, according to our overview.
- Rinse the filter regularly. Bosch UAE gives the steps, and your manual gives the interval for your model. We do not quote one.
- Run a hot cycle now and then. Our overview says a steady diet of low-temperature programmes can let grease build up in the pump and spray arms.
- Watch the first drain after any visit. If water appears under the machine, tell us.
What to tell us when you book
- The E-Nr and FD numbers from the rating plate, as a photo.
- The code on the display, and when it appeared: filling, washing, draining or drying.
- What you hear from the base when the machine tries to drain: silence, humming, grinding or rattling.
- What you have tried, and what you found in the filter and the pump cover.
- Whether water is standing in the base, and how much.
- Age and history: how old the machine is and whether the pump has been replaced before.
- Access: your building, apartment number and parking, and any approval your building needs. For an integrated machine, say whether a cabinet panel hides it.
A short video of the machine trying to drain, with sound, helps us decide what to bring. Send it by WhatsApp.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know if my Bosch dishwasher drain pump has failed?
Clean the filter and lift the pump cover first, as Bosch UAE's steps show, and check the hose. If those are clear and dirty water stays in the base, the pump is the leading suspect. Silence from the base, or a hum with no water moving, points that way. Bosch's pages do not list these signs, so this is our reading.
What does E23 mean on a Bosch dishwasher?
Bosch's US list says there is an issue with the drain pump, which happens when it is blocked, clogged or faulty. Bosch Malta calls it a fault in the waste water pump that only an experienced engineer can eliminate. E6101 has the same text on the US list.
How much does a Bosch dishwasher drain pump replacement cost in Dubai?
Our range is AED 160 to 340 for a not-draining fault, and AED 220 to 320 when the pump itself has failed, excluding 5% VAT. The AED 99 inspection is credited to the repair if you go ahead. We found no UAE retailer price for the pump to compare.
Is the "water pump" the same as the drain pump?
Not always. Owners use "water pump" for the circulation pump that sends water to the spray arms, and sometimes for the drain pump. The symptoms differ: a drain pump fault leaves water in the base, while a weak circulation pump leaves dishes dirty.
What is a heat pump in a Bosch dishwasher?
Bosch's code list uses the term for E01, E09, E20, E21 and E12 but does not explain it. Our reading is that it is the circulation pump with a heater built in. See our E09 guide.
Can I replace a Bosch dishwasher drain pump myself?
Bosch UAE sends you to a service expert after the cleaning checks, and Bosch Malta says E23 needs an experienced engineer. Parts sellers say electrical components should be installed by a qualified electrician. We recommend a technician.
Is the drain pump the same on every Bosch dishwasher?
No. One listing says the pump style has changed several times and similar-looking pumps may not fit. Send the full E-Nr and the FD number.
Should I buy a genuine or a compatible pump?
We found no Bosch comparison. One seller points to a cheaper compatible pump for the same job. Ask the seller who made the part, check the return terms, and have the part number put on your invoice.
My dishwasher is under warranty. Should I still message you?
Contact Bosch first. Bosch UAE lists BSH 048030400. We are an independent repair company and not an authorised Bosch agent, and a repair by us may not be covered by the manufacturer's warranty terms.
